SAUGEEN SHORES - The depleted Lamont gravel pit on Concession 6 on the south-east edge of Port Elgin is where Saugeen Shores politicians and staff want to locate a new outdoor unified sports field complex - including long-needed baseball diamonds - and future development lands. The $1.5-million purchase price, with conditions, was approved by a 7-0 vote at the Jan. 29 committee of the whole meeting; a decision that must be ratified at the Feb. 12 council meeting.
